midwest marlin // Jake Sheppard

Jacob “Jake” Sheppard (he/him) is a filmmaker, musician, and ex scientist from a small town in Colorado. Before changing careers he received a B.S. in Molecular Biology at the University of Colorado at Boulder, and worked as a Cancer Geneticist at the Jingshi Shen Laboratory. He currently lives in Los Angeles, where he completed the MFA Film Directing Program at CalArts in 2021, and where he was selected as the school's nomination to the 2019 Princess Grace Foundation. His work has screened at REDCAT, Palm Springs International ShortFest (nominated for Best US Short Film) and Tacoma Film Festival (winner Grand Jury Prize: Best Narrative Short, Honorable Mention).

Jake currently has a number of projects in development, both film and music, and is always on the look-out for collaborators, financiers, and friends.
